Our role is to help develop and promote local voluntary and community groups in order to improve the quality of life for individuals, groups and communities.

We do this by encouraging, supporting and developing individuals, groups and organisations involved in the community. We are committed to ensuring that no individual, group or community is disadvantaged or excluded from playing an active part in society. We promote new initiatives and establish partnerships between the statutory agencies and the voluntary sector.

Voluntary Action for Oadby & Wigston is a centre for volunteering in the Oadby & Wigston area. We recruit and place volunteers in a wide variety of charitable organisations. We do this by working closely with groups and organisations that require volunteers by providing an access point to promote their vacancies, offering information and advice. We offer continual support and encouragement to all our volunteers to fulfil their full potential and see that volunteering is a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

Offers free, independent and confidential advice on any topic of concern including benefits, welfare rights, legal issues, debt, housing, education, carers issues and consumer complaints. Also practical support and counselling available, plus a wide range of information leaflets. All services free of charge. Home visits can be arranged.
